InannaMassage
Massage has been practised for many centuries across most civilizations for the purpose of healing via touch and pushing into and releasing certain pressure areas of the body. Massage can assist the body in pain relief, reduction of stress and may produce deep relaxation.
SWEDISH RELAXATION MASSAGE
Swedish Relaxation massage is a pain free and flowing form of massage. It utilises full hand, fingers and can also incorporate hot rocks. It follows a routine made up of Effleurage, Petrissage, Friction and Tapotement. Each of these different forms throughout the massage are melded together to encourage a general sense of relaxation and wellbeing within the client. A Swedish or relaxation massage can feel deep or superficial depending on the needs of the client.
What is Swedish Massage Therapy?
Swedish massage is the most common type of remedial massage, where the therapist uses long strokes and kneading to relax muscles.
I apply pressure with my hands, thumbs, forearms and elbows. The upper body is massaged using circular movements while feet are mainly worked on using thumbs in a circular motion.
Massages are a great way to relax, Swedish massage is a very gentle form of massage that can help people with any type of health condition. Even for those who have just gotten out of surgery, Swedish massage does not put pressure on muscles which could cause them pain or worsen their current conditions.
Benefits of Swedish Massage Therapy
Swedish massages work to soothe sore muscles and increase overall relaxation by releasing tension from the body through kneading motions. This allows the body to recover from injury, decrease stress levels and reduce chronic pain over time. In addition to muscle tissue, Swedish massages can help with many other health conditions including:
- high blood pressure
- hormonal imbalances
- migraines and headaches
- stress relief
- anxiety and depression
Swedish massage is a deeply relaxing therapy that works to improve your overall sense of well-being. It can be given in conjunction with other therapies such as aromatherapy and Bowen Therapy in order to achieve the greatest benefits.
Who should book in for a Swedish/relaxation massage?
A Swedish/Relaxation massage is an excellent way to give yourself a break and recoup from the stresses of life as it eases the symptoms, of stress, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure and insomnia.
Everyone can benefit from the increased blood and lymphatic flow through the body and your skin will thank you for the hydrating effects of a massage. Frequent relaxation massages have also been shown to help with skin and muscle tone.
BOWEN THERAPY

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE
The lymphatic system has three primary functions.
1. Removal of excess fluids from cells in your body.
2. Absorption of fatty acids and fat then transporting them to the circulatory system and out of the body.
3. Creates a significant part of our immune system.
Our lymphatic system does not have a heart beat to pump fluids around the body. Rather it is dependent on muscle contraction, and good hydration to pump excess fluids from the extremities, into the circulatory system and out of the body.
For some people the body needs a helping hand, a good example of this is people who suffer from Lymphedema. In these cases a manual lymphatic drain can help the body remove some of the excess fluids and help to relieve the symptoms of the condition.
A lymphatic drain massage can also help alleviate bruising, edemas and other side effects of injuries. They are also good for people who are recovering from illness as it speed up the immune response and helps to flush sick and contaminated cells out of the body.
